Rules

1. Two 30-minute halves are played. If the game is tied at the end of regulation, two 10-minute overtimes with 7 players on a side are played. The second 10 are sudden victory. Penalty strokes are taken if the score is still tied. If necessary, 3 sets of strokes are taken with the third set sudden victory. One time out per half is allowed per team is called by a coach.

2. To score a goal, the ball must be touched by a member of the offense inside the circle and then cross the plane of the goal line.

3. No player except the goalie may touch the ball with any part of her body. If this "advancing occurs, giving her team a distinct advantage then the other team is awarded a free hit at the spot of the foul.


4. The player in possession of the ball may not prevent an opponent from having the opportunity to play the ball. "Obstruction" is called when a member of the defense is actively trying to play the ball as the offense is obstructing. A free hit is then awarded to the defense.


5. A free hit is awarded when the opponent hits or holds another players stick.


6. A "dangerous play" gives the other team a free hit at the site of the foul. Examples include; hitting the ball directly into an opponent, hitting into the crowd at knee height or above, or raising stick above shoulder height.


7. If any fouls occur within the scoring circle against the offense, a free hit on the 16-yard line is awarded to the offense.


8. If any fouls occur within the scoring circle against the offense, a free hit on the 16-yard line is to the defense.


9. When free hits are taken, no defensive player may stand closer than 5 yards.


10. A penalty stroke is awarded to the offense when a defender stops a goal by committing an intentional foul or the goalie keeps the ball covered for more than 3 seconds.
