Week of 10/10-10/16

On Wednesday, October 13th Homewood Flossmoor came to play the Pats on their home turf. Sophomore captain Emily Scaletta made several impressive dodges up the right side of the field and junior Julia Balmos and sophomore Isabella Errigo inserted the ball beautifully on our offensive corners. Homewood scored a goal in the first half of the game, and unfortunately, the Pats ran out of sunlight to score one of their own. The final was 1-0.

On Thursday, October 14th the girls traveled to Oak Park to play the Huskies on their home field. Junior Sheela Jayaraman made several clean dodges during the game; however, we struggled to read the ball on the turf surface and ended up losing 5-0.

On Saturday, October 16th the girls hiked back to Oak Park to play in the annual JVA tournament. The girls played New Trier first and were able to hold the Trevians from scoring for most of the game. The Pats were even awarded with several offensive corners. Unfortunately, New Trier popped two in and we lost, 2-0. Afterward, the girls played Glenbard West. The Pats fought hard, but were unlucky in the circle after GBW scored late in the game. The final was 1-0. The last game of the season was against Deerfield High School. Deerfield scored quickly in the first half, but Pats refused to give up. In the second half, sophomore Emily Scaletta crushed the ball into the circle from the 25-yard line where junior Eva Allibone was able to control it and put it past the Warrior's goalie. The final was 1-1! It was a great way to end the season.

SHS vs. Antioch

Every Corner Has A Hole...

Week of 10/3-10/9

On Monday, October 4th the Pats were ready for a rematch against Loyola Academy. The Ramblers scored a goal in the first half of the game; however, the Pats refused to back down. Sophomore Emily Scaletta transitioned the ball smoothly into Loyola's circle and passed to Katie Perlman, who scored easily from the left side of the field. Loyola chalked up another goal in the second half, but the Pats immediatley silenced the Ramblers once sophomore Agnes Kwon made an outstanding pass to Amy Andes, who scored using her reverse stick on the right side of the circle. The final was 2-2!

On Tuesday, October 5th SHS played the Antioch Sequoits. Both teams fought fiercely in the first half; the score remained 0-0 until Emily Scaletta set up Katie Perlman for the Pats' first goal of the game. A few minutes later, Scaletta took a hard shot in the circle and Perlman quickly tapped the ball into the goal. Perlman currently has 12 goals and Scaletta has 9 assists for the season. In the last 3 minutes of the game, the Sequoits were awarded with a corner; although their offense made an obvious hacking foul on sophomore standout Lauren Magafas, their shot on goal had counted. The final score was 2-1.
